Microinterferometric study of the structure, interfacial potential, and viscoelastic properties of polyelectrolyte multilayer films on a planar substrate

Article Abstract:

The structure, surface potentials and surface friction coefficients of thin films made of polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEMs) are characterized by the dual wavelength-reflection interference contrast microscopy (DW-RICM). The unexpected universal power law dependence of the curvature of the interaction potential on the bead/substrate height is reported.

Microorigami: Fabrication of small, three-dimensional, metallic structures

Article Abstract:

A novel strategy where microcontact printing and wet chemical etching generate 2D patterns in thin silver films is discussed. Folding of these structures along predesigned 'hinges' produce three-dimensional (3D) objects.

Fabrication of organic thin-film transistors using layer-by-layer assembly

Article Abstract:

The incorporation of ultrathin polymer dielectric layers into thin-film transistors (TFT) devices is demonstrated by using a layer-by-layer assembly deposition technique.
