Molecular dynamics of excited state intramolecular proton transfer:2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)-4-methyloxazole in gas phase, solution, and protein environments

Article Abstract:

The ultrafast enol-keto isomerization in the lowest singlet excited state (S1) of 2-(2inch-hydroxyphenyl)-4-methyloxazole (HPMO) is investigated using a classical molecular dynamics study of the excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) reaction. This process is studied in four different environments: the gas phase, dimethyl sulfoxide, water, and human serum albumin protein, and the simulations presented through this provide insight into fundamental aspects of ESIPT reactions

Visible emission of a photoproduct from tryptophan solution induced by multiphoton excitation: an investigation by intensity fluctuation analysis

Article Abstract:

The strong visible emission from a tryptophan methylester solution was observed by a confocal microscope with a 795-nm femtosecond pulsed laser. The results suggest that the photoproduct converts a nonradiative species, such as a nonfluorescent product, from its excited state generated by the two-photon process.
