Evidence for an intermediate state in B-to-Z transition of DNA

Article Abstract:

The study of the transition of a B-form of d(CGCGCGCGCGCG) to the Z-form as a function of the ions strength of phosphate buffered saline (PBS) buffer is reported. Decomposition CD spectra by linear superposition provides evidence for one or more intermediate states during the transition of a B- to Z-form.

Electronic requirements for oxygen atom transfer from alkyl hydroperoxides. Model studies on multisubstrate flavin-containing monooxygenases

Article Abstract:

The mechanism of 4a-hydroperoxyflavin oxidation of a series of heteroatom nucleophiles is studied using density functional calculations at the B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p) level. Findings provide an estimate of 40kcal/mol for the O-O bond energy in 4a-flavinhydroperoxide (FIHOOH).
