Molecular relaxation dynamics of self-assembled monolayers

Article Abstract:

Dielectric relaxation spectroscopy is used to determine molecular motion in alkylsilane self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) coated on porous glass over a broad temperature range. This method can be generalized to other substituent polar groups to probe localized relaxation dynamics in surface-grafted monolayer films.

Effects of chain length and heat treatment on the nanotribology of alkylsilane monolayers self-assembled on a rough aluminum surface

Article Abstract:

The structure of aklylsilane self-assembled monolayers (SAM) on a rough aluminum surface is studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM). AFM studies with different chain lengths shows high friction of disordered short-chain SAMs whereas the heat treatment provides a mechanism for introducing disorder into a SAM.

Surface modification of H-ferrierite by reaction with triethoxysilane

Article Abstract:

The interaction of triethoxysilane (TES) with H-ferrierite (H-FER) and its effects on acidity are investigated by infrared spectroscopy. The silanization process involves contact between the zeolitic surface and TES vapors followed by evacuation steps at increasing temperature up to 773K.
