NMR with a continuously circulating flow of laser-polarized 129Xe

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the construction of an apparatus for optical pumping of 129XE in a circulating gas system linked to a probe for static high-field nuclear magnetic resonance. The optimal working environment for the optical pumping under flow was also examined. The performance of the system was then evaluated by monitoring signal intensities of the gas at room temperature.

Time-dependent diffusion coefficients in periodic porous materials

Article Abstract:

An approximate solution for the Laplace transform of the time-dependent diffusion coefficient, D(t), of a molecule diffusing in a periodic porous material is presented. A simple heuristic formula for the mean-squared displacement of the diffusing molecule is suggested.

Effects of wettability on three-phase flow in porous media

Article Abstract:

A new study investigates how oil, water and gas flows in hydrocarbon reservoirs are affected by rock wettability. The three-phase fluid configurations and displacement processes are described.
