Nanoscale confinement effects on the relaxation dynamics in networks of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A and low-molecular-weight poly(ethylene oxide)

Article Abstract:

The thermoplastic poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) is used to prepare thermosetting nanocomposites by incorporating diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) epoxy oligomer and the effect of nanoscale confinement on the relaxation dynamics is studied. The results support the idea that structural similarity of the components and the number of interassociated hydrogen bonds regulate the compatibility of the particular 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM)-cured epoxy resin (ER)-i-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) networks.

Large low-field magnetoresistance in nanocrystalline magnetite prepared by sol-gel method

Article Abstract:

An optimized sol-gel method is used to synthesize nanocrystalline magnetite [Fe.sub.3][O.sub.4] samples with a grain size of about 40 nm. The results have shown that the large low-field magnetoresistance (LFMR) is caused due to the spin-polarized tunneling of conducting electrons through the insulating boundaries in nanocrystalline magnetite.

Reversible color changes in lamella hybrids of poly(diacetylenecarboxylates) incorporated in layered double hydroxide nanosheets

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to investigate a reversible thermal color change induced in lamella hybrids of poly(diacetylenecarboxylates) incorporated in layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheets. The poly-[m,n]/LDH hybrids were observed to develop colors ranging from yellow to blue.
