Nanoscopic investigation of the self-assembly process of dialkyl disulfides and dialkyl sulfides on Au(111)

Article Abstract:

The formation of striped phases of dialkyl disulfides and dialkyl sulfides on Au(111) and graphite is monitored by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) to investigate differences in adsorption of the sulfide to the gold surface. Striped phases formed by C18H37S(super -) moieties after S-S bond cleavage of dioctadecyl disulfide on the gold surface were observed.

Variable energy x-ray photoemission studies of alkylsilane based monolayers on gold

Article Abstract:

X-ray photoemission core level and valence band data are used to assess the structure of the RSiH3 derived monolayers and the degree of the surface coverage. The gaseous n-alkylsilane, n-octylsilane, and n-octadecylsilane were vapor deposited in ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) on freshly evaporated gold surfaces to form monolayers.

Nanometer-sized gold particles supported on SiO2 by deposition of gold sols from Au(PPh3)sub 3Cl

Article Abstract:

An Au/Sio2 system with most of the metal particles less than 2.0 nm in size are prepared by deposition on silica of performed gold sols derived from Au(PPh3)(sub 3)Cl. The conclusion suggest that the reaction steps involving oxygen can occur more effectively on Au sites present on larger and smoother gold particles.
