Nonequilibrium bubbles in a flowing Langmuir monolayer

Article Abstract:

A study to investigate the nonequlibrium behavior of two-dimensional gas bubbles in Langmuir monolayers was conducted. The results revealed that the interaction of the satellite bubbles with the pinned bubble leads to a variety of phenomena including the replacement of the laser-induced cavitation bubble by satellite laser bubbles, the coal-escence of bubbles and the emission of satellite bubbles.

Compactification of a myelin mimetic Langmuir monolayer upon adsorption unfolding of myelin basic protein

Article Abstract:

Investigation of the surface shear viscosity of a myelin mimetic Langmuir monolayer is done upon adsorption of myelin basic protein (MBP). An increase of the surface shear viscosity is measured at picomolar concentrations of the protein, which suggests that the globular conformation of MBP changes upon adsorption at the monolayer.

Dipolar foams in Langmuir monolayers dry at low bubble fraction

Article Abstract:

The crossover from a hexagonal lattice of circular bubbles to monodisperse hexagonal foam in two dimensions (2D) foams is studied. The findings suggest that the bubble shapes of these monodisperse hexagonal foams depend on the area fraction of two phases and not on any material constants.
