Nonlinear response of a batch BZ oscillator to the addition of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate

Article Abstract:

Several studies are conducted to analyze the nonlinear response of the Belousov-Zhabotinsy (BZ) oscillator to the addition of the increasing amounts of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in various stirred batch conditions. The research is proved to be extremely significant, as it corroborates the existence of two kinds of micelles and also reveals that the bromine species show a different affinity towards the spherical, as well as the rod-like micelles.

Phase behavior and thermodynamics pf a mixture of cationic gemini and anionic surfactant

Article Abstract:

The phase behavior and thermodynamics of the cationic mixture of the gemini surfactant hexanediyl-alpha,omega-bis(dodecyldimethylammonium bromide) (12-6-12Br2) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) over the full range of composition are presented. The formation of the different microstructures, such as the spontaneously formed vesicles in the SDS-rich side, is discussed on the basis of geometric and electrostatic effects occurring in the SDS-gemini mixture.

Thermotropic phase behavior of cationic gemini surfactants and their equicharge mixtures with sodium dodecyl sulfate

Article Abstract:

Polarizing microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) are used to characterize the thermotropic liquid crystals (Lc) formation by the cationic Gemini surfactants and its equicharge mixtures with sodium dodecyl. The results show that the mixture exhibits phase transitions at lower and smetic Lc phases at higher temperatures, which further presents the trends upon increase of the chain lengths.
