Novel method for calculating the diffusion coefficients of a ternary system containing a polydisperse component. Applications to the Gouy interferometry

Article Abstract:

A novel approach to correct the effect of the polydispersity of a solute on the values of the basic Gouy parameters DA 'the reduced height-area ratio' and Q(sub 0) 'the area under the omega graph' used in the Fujita-Gosting procedure to compute the four diffusion coefficients of a ternary system containing a polydisperse component is presented. The procedure is applied successfully to dilute concentration of components present in the system.

Electrostatic and excluded volume effects on the transport of electrolytes in poly(ethylene glycol) - water "mixed solvents"

Article Abstract:

Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) is a nonionic polymer, widely used in relation to several biotechnological, pharmacological and industrial applications. The transport properties of PEG-NaCl-water system are presented with special regard to the dielectric and hydrodynamic effects.

Hard-sphere hydrodynamics as reference state in velocity cross-correlation analysis of real systems

Article Abstract:

The stability of hard-sphere hydrodynamics to model translational motions in real systems is discussed. Possible extension to analytically quantify correlation between internal motions of biopolymers is also reported.
