Novel properties of DDAB: Matrix effect and interaction with Oleate

Article Abstract:

The interaction of the positively charged surfactant DDAB (didodecyldimethyl ammonium bromide) with preformed vesicles from POPC (1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine), and negatively charged surfactant oleate, are investigated. In both cases the matrix effect are shown by DDAB with the formation of mixed vesicles of size distribution depending on reactant concentrations.

A matrix effect in mixed phospholipid/fatty acid vesicle formation

Article Abstract:

A combination of kinetic and structural methods has been used to assess the formation of mixed phospholipid/fatty acid vesicles. The case of pre-added 'monodisperse' 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (POPC) vesicles on the formation of mixed POPC/oleic acid/oleate vesicles was investigated.

Structure and properties of hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride monolayers in contact with oil films with different thicknesses

Article Abstract:

A study on the effects of the amount of oil spread on a hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride monolayer adsorbed on water is reported. A bridge between the Langmuir and the liquid/liquid interfaces are made.
