On-off blinking and multiple bright states of single europium ions in Eu(super 3+): Y2O3 nanocrystals

Article Abstract:

Continuously illuminated single europium ions incorporated in d [Eu (super 3+): Y2O3] nanocrystals (5-15 nm diameter) undergo on-off blinking on a variable time scale ranging from hundreds of milliseconds to several seconds. The study indicates the first report of fluorescence imaging of single rare-earth ions in metal oxide nanoparticles, and the first observation of multiple bright states in the luminescence of a single chromophore.

Morphological control and luminescent properties of YV[O.sub.4]:Eu nanocrystals

Article Abstract:

Rodlike, olivelike, pineapplelike, and particlelike nanocrystals of the YV[O.sub.4]:Eu is synthesized by a hydrothermal reaction with different conditions, respectively. The analysis has suggested that the function-improved materials can be obtained by tailoring the size and shape of the YV[O.sub.4]:Eu nanostructures.

Bistable electrical switching and memory effects in a thin film of copolymer containing electron donor-acceptor moieties and europium complexes

Article Abstract:

A methacrylate copolymer containing electron donor-acceptor (D-A) moieties and europium complexes (PCzOxEu) in the pendant groups is synthesized and characterized. Molecular simulations are carried out to elucidate the roles of oxadiazole moieties in improving the response time and retention time of the memory device.
