On the determination of the diffusion coefficients of electrons and of potassium ions in copper(II) hexacyanoferrate(II) composite electrodes

Article Abstract:

Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used in determining the diffusion coefficients of electrons and potassium ions in graphite, paraffin and copper(II) hexacyanoferrate(II) (Cu hcf). These compounds show good potential as materials for new ion-selective electrodes. The redox reaction of lattice metal ions are accompanied by a reversible exhange of cations between the electrolyte solution and interstitial holes of the solid compound. Results show the diffusion coefficient is due to the semiconductor properties of Cu hcf. Separating cation diffusion from electron hopping has not been achieved.

Quenching of excited triplet state hypericin with energy acceptors and donors and acceptors of electrons

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the quenching of the triplet state of hypericin by acceptors of electronic energy and donors and acceptors of electrons. Nanosecond laser photolysis was utilized to carry out the analysis. Results indicated that the rate constant profiles for electron transfer were consistent with an excited-state reaction that occurs before electron transfer. Findings also showed that the rate constant of the interaction of minimized hypericin with O2 was about 3.8 x 10(super 8)M(super -1)s(super -1) in acetonitrile.

Bringing electrons and microarray technology together

Article Abstract:

The consequences of low-energy electron impact on the DNA's ability to hybridize are analyzed. The secondary electron (SE) micrographs have shown that strand breaks induced by the electrons have plays a key role in the reaction mechanism.
