One- and two-color photon echo peak shift studies of photosystem I

Article Abstract:

A wavelength-dependent one- and two-color photon echo peak shift spectroscopy study on the chlorophyll [Q.sub.y] band of trimeric photosystem 1 from Thermosynechococcus elongatus is done. The observations include Sub-100 fs energy transfer steps in addition to longer time scales as compared to measurement by others and it was concluded that the two-color photon echo peak shift is much more sensitive to changes in the molecular Hamiltonian as compared to the one-color photon echo peak shift spectroscopy.

Exciton binding energy in semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes

Article Abstract:

The exciton binding energy serves as a critical criterion for identification of the nature of elementary excitations in semiconductor materials. An exciton binding energy of 0.41eV is determined experimentally for a selected nanotube type, the (8,3) tube, confirming the excitonic nature of the elementary excitations.
