Infrared characterization of Rh surface states and their adsorbates during the NO-CO reaction

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the use of infrared spectroscopy to characterize the surface state of Rh during the NO-CO redox reaction cycle. The surface states of the adsorbates is also studied.

Opposite charges in work function of high index copper surfaces with surface acoustic wave propagation

Article Abstract:

The photoelectron emission microscopy (PEEM), revealed the different effects of surface acoustic waves (SAWs) on low and high index Cu surfaces. Infrared absorption spectroscopy (IRAS) is combined with PEEM, to study the SAW effects on the electronic properties of a metal surface.

Chemisorbed oxygen on Au(111) produced by a novel route: reaction in condensed films of NO2 + H2O

Article Abstract:

Experiments were performed to describe the novel reaction between coadsorbed NO2 and H2O. The reaction produces surface atomic oxygen on gold (Au)(III) surfaces. The studies were performed on ultra high vacuum chambers with a double-pass cylindrical mirror analyzer for Auger electron spectroscopy and other analytical techniques. The data demonstrate that NO2 adsorption on the Au(III) surfaces was reversible. Despite the absence of notable reaction between the separate adsorption of NO2 and H2O, a coadsorption automatically leads to a reaction.
