Optical Spectroscopy of isolated and aggregate hexabenzocoronene derivatives: a study of self-assembling molecular nanowires

Article Abstract:

Study was conducted to measure the excitation and luminescence spectra at very low concentrations and also to observe the isolated molecules spectroscopically, using the new synthesis of highly soluble hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene (HBC) derivatives. The insertion of phenyl groups between the pending alkyl side-chains and the aromatic core of HBC-PhC12 does not affect the extent of the pi-conjugation but does not reduce the photoluminescence yield of the isolated molecules.

Selective Interaction of a Semiconjugated Organic Polymer with Single-Wall Nanotubes

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to demonstrate that solutions of the semi conjugated organic polymer are capable of suspending nanotubes indefinitely while the majority of the accompanying amorphous graphite precipitates out of solution. The findings indicate that through an intercalation process, the ropes of nanotubes are destroyed, resulting in individual nanotubes being well dispersed within the polymer matrix.

Vibrational study of the FeCl(sub-3)-doped dimer of polyaniline;a good model compound of emeraldine salt

Article Abstract:

Optical and vibrational properties of the FeCl(sub-3)-doped dimer of polyaniline, a model compound of emeraldine salt are studied. Useful information about the electronic configuration of the protonated emeraldine, which remains under debate, considering the numerous similarities between the vibrational characteristics of the polymeric chain and its well defined oligomer is presented.
