Orientation effects on nitric acid dihydrate films

Article Abstract:

An investigation of orientation effects in films of nitric acid dihydrate (NAD) is presented, based on a systematic study of transmission along with a description on the reflection-absorption infrared (RAIR) spectra of samples of varying thickness. The comparison of the transmission and RAID spectra with simulations carried out with Fresnel models and the optical indices have revealed evidence of anisotropy in the alpha-NAD films.

Experimental studies of amorphous and polycrystalline ice films using FT-RAIRS

Article Abstract:

Extensive measurements of grazing-angle reflection absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS) spectra of amorphous and crystalline ice layers deposited form the vapor phase on gold and aluminum surfaces are investigated using polarized and nonpolarized IR radiation. Special emphasis has been placed on the measurement and modeling of the spectra of thick layers (up to approximately 5mu m).

A theoretical study of the structure and spectra of nitric acid hydrates crystals

Article Abstract:

The calculated theoretical structure of nitric acid monohydrate (NAM), dihydrate (NAD) and trihydrate (NAT) crystals obtained by application of the ab initio method (SIESTA) is presented. The further study of physiochemical properties and their vibrational normal modes is also evaluated.
