Phenylthiophene-dipicolinic acid-based emitters with strong solution blue and solid state green emission

Article Abstract:

The synthesis and characterization of highly efficient blue emitting phenyl-thiophene compounds derivatized with dipicolinic acid bis(diethylamide) and dipicolinic acid diethyl ester are described. Compounds presented show intresting emission properties on their own and the photophysical and electrochemcial characterization illustrates their potential use as blue and green emitters in light emitting diodes (LEDs).

Cationic starches as substitute for synthetic cationic flocculants in solid-liquid separation of harbor sludge

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to check whether synthetic flocculants can be substituted by cationic starches that have already proven to be less toxic than synthetic flocculants. The flocculation and dewatering measurements have shown that the synthetic cationic flocculant polyamine made of (chloromethyl) orirane and N-methyl-methanamine (PA) can be best substituted by cationic starch KS 2.
