Photoionization and induced chemical reactions of benzotrichloride on solution surface

Article Abstract:

The photoionization and the induced chemical reactions at the surface of a benzotrichloride solution has been studied. The alcohol benzotrichloride solution was introduced into a vacuum and was irradiated with nanosecond and femtosecond lasers at the 274 nm wavelength. Reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometry was used in examining the ions produced by multiphoton ionization. It was observed that the multiphoton excitation induces the ion-molecule reactions at the surface of alcohol solutions of benzotrichloride.

Numerical solution of the coupled Nernst-Planck and Poission equations for liquid junction and ion selective membrane potentials

Article Abstract:

A new numerical model is presented for analyzing the propagation of ionic concentrations and eletrical potential in space and time in the liquid junction and in the solution/ion-exchanging membrane system, which is referred as the Nernst-Planck-Poisson (NNP) model that is exploited. It is shown for the first time that the paradigmatic equations for every open circuit measurement, such as the Henderson liquid junction equation or the Nikolskii-Eisenman equation, are special cases of the NPP model.

Kinetics of formation and dissociation of aquacobalt (III) complexes with some carboxylic acids in acid perchlorate solution

Article Abstract:

A study to measure the rate of formation and dissociation of monocarboxylic complexes of aquacobalt(III) cations with propionic, malonic, and 2-ethylmalonic acids over a series of concentrations and temperatures in acid perchlorate media at an ionic strength 3.0 M. The rate of constants for the reactions of Co[OH.sup.2+.sub.aq] cover a small range, pointing to a dissociative mechanism, the associated activation factors change cooperatively.
