Oxygen reduction at platinum monolayer islands deposited on Au(111)

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted for the first time on atomic monolayer islands of two-dimensional Pt nanoparticles, on an Au(111) electrode focusing on their electrocatalytic activities for oxygen reduction in acid solutions. Pt islands prepared using the self-assembled technique of thiols and the replacement of Pt with a Cu monolayer exhibited special catalytic activities for oxygen reduction.

Photon-by-photon determination of emission burst from diffusing single chromophores

Article Abstract:

A procedure that operates on the data sequencing photon by photon, thereby relieving the incertitude in choosing binning-threshold parameter was introduced by detecting two-photon emission burst from diffusing single gold nanoparticles. The results support the burst-finding procedures as a reliable and efficient way of detecting and harvesting photon burst from diffusing experiments.

Dynamic and static quenching of fluorescence by 1-4 nm diameter gold monolayer-protected clusters

Article Abstract:

The way in which the efficiency of molecular quenching by Au nanoparticles depends on nanoparticle size is reported for dynamic and static quenching of fluorescence. The results for both the sets of monolayer-protected Au clusters (MPCs) have revealed a clear increase in quenching efficiency at increased MPC core size.
