Praseodymium hydroxide and oxide nanorods and Au/Pr(sub 6)O(sub 11) nanorod catalyst for CO oxidation

Article Abstract:

The synthesis of fine praseodymium hydroxide and oxide nanorods was carried out by simple hydrothermal approach in alkaline solution and the obtained hydroxide nanorods were converted into oxide nanorods by calcination. The obtained Au/Pr(sub 6)O(sub 11) nanorods exhibit a superior catalytic activity for CO oxidation due to the synergistic interaction between gold nanoparticles and Pr(sub 6)O(sub 11) nanorods and oxide migration from the support to the surface of the gold nanoparticles.

Coverage-dependent kinetics and thermodynamics of carbon monoxide adsorption on a ternary copper catalyst derived from static adsorption microcalorimetry

Article Abstract:

The adsorption of CO on a ternary Cu catalyst was studied at room temperature in a static Tian-calvet microcalorimeter. For carbon monoxide adsorption on a hydrogen-reduced Cu/ZnO/Al(sub 2)O(sub 3) catalyst, the adsorption rate constant (K(sub a)) is found to be in the range from 10(super -6) to 10(super -4) Pa(super -1) S(super -1), and the desorption rate constant (k(sub d) from 10(super -4) to 10(super -2) S(super -1), both increasing with fractional coverage theta.

Strong pyramidal growth of metal films studied with IR transmittance and surface enhanced IR absorption of CO

Article Abstract:

The study reports on the infrared (IR) characterization of the free charge carriers in nanostructured metal films and of their coupling to the stretching vibration of adsorbed CO molecules. Surface enhanced infrared absorption of CO adsorbed on the film concluded that the asymmetry of the C-O stretch, which is typical for films near the percolation threshold.
