Precision 2000: year of 'data integrity'?

Article Abstract:

Precision farming relies heavily on precision devices delivering accurate data to identify what precision advice is called for. Thus, data integrity is critical to the success of the entire concept. Developments in precision farming to monitor closely in 2000 include the emergence of service oganizations that will offer data warehousing services to farmers and data warehouses services which will explore data diversity involving information storage, exchange and analysis. Another area farmers ought to monitor is the likelihood of more data regulations relating to site- specific information.

You snooze, you lose

Article Abstract:

Agronomists are the most qualified to write nutrient management plans but engineering firms will be more than happy to deliver the service if agronomists do not take up this opportunity. Big livestock farms are required to have a Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan in place by 2002, providing a potentially lucrative niche for agronomists. Engineering firms, however, are recognized in all 50 states, unlike agronomists.
