Preparation, characterization, and surface modification of silver nanoparticles in formamide

Article Abstract:

A detailed description about the preparation of silver nanoparticles by reduction of silver ions with formamide in the absence and presence of stabilizers, such as poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) and SiO(sub 2), is presented. Surface-modified particles show optical properties that are significantly different from those of the primary silver dispersion.

Maneuvering the surface plasmon resonance of silver nanostructures through shape-controlled synthesis

Article Abstract:

Discrete dipole approximation (DDA) calculations, each of a distinctive morphology, are performed to demonstrate the specific ways in which shape affects the absorption and scattering of light. The control of nanostructure shape has allowed the optimization of plasmon resonance for molecular detection and spectroscopy.

Preparation characterization of silver sulfide nanocrystals generated from Silver(I)-Thiolate polymers

Article Abstract:

Experiment based on the preparation of Ag2S nanocrystals, formed by the conversion of silver(I)-dodecanethiolate polymers using Na2S in a two-phase synthesis is reported. Results show the possibility to separate Ag2S nanocrystal by core size using fractional crystallization.
