Pressure during sonoluminescence

Article Abstract:

The high resolution multibubble sonoluminescence (MBSL) spectra arising from the ultrasonic irradiation of metal carbonyls and other volatile metal- containing compounds dissolved in silicone oil saturated with helium or argon are reported. These MBSL spectra showed that the pressure within the bubble at the point of emission was on the order of 300 bar in argon- saturated silicone oil, which is consistent with simple adiabatic compression during cavitation.

Control of chemical equilibrium by noise

Article Abstract:

A theory of reactive transport in the presence of environmental fluctuations that restart a transfer attempt, such as, for instance, during charge transfer through an intermediate state on a fluctuating bridge is formulated. Thus, a design principle of a controllable molecular scale device is proposed.

High-Pressure acceleration of the growth kinetics of glucose isomerase crystals

Article Abstract:

The growth and dissolution rates of glucose isomerase crystals were measured in situ at 0.1 and 100 MPa. The results indicate that the acceleration was mainly due to the decrease in the molecular surface energy of the glucose isomeric crystal with pressure.
