Probing the electronic structure and conformational flexibility of individual light-harvesting 3 complexes by optical single-molecule spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Fluorescence-excitation spectra of individual light-harvesting 3 (LH3 or B800-820) complexes of Rhodopseudomonas acidophila at 1.2 K is presented using optical single-molecule studies to investigate the electronic structure and conformational flexibility of the individual pigment-protein complexes. The spectra confirm that the observed blue shift of the B820 absorption band in LH3 compared to the B850 absorption band in LH2 cannot be due to changes in the excitonic coupling, but must be due to changes in the site energy of the BChl pigments.

Time-resolved two photon spectroscopy of photosystem I determines hidden carotenoid dark-state dynamics

Article Abstract:

A time-resolved fs two-photon pump-probe data measured with photosystem I (PS I) of Thermosynechoccus elongatus is presented. It is demonstrated that time-resolved two-photon spectroscopy is a powerful tool to elucidate dynamics that are almost hidden by using conventional ne-photon excitation.

Excited-state processes in phycocyanobilin studied by femtosecond spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Research is presented demonstrating the use of femtosecond spectroscopy to study the photoprocesses of phycocyanobilin which were light-induced at 100 fs pulses at 610 nm.
