Protonation of Gly(sub n) homologues in matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze protonation reactions of Gly(sub n) homologues to determine the effects of peptide chain length and matrix materials on the matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mechanism. The crystalline layer on the probe surface was heterogeneous and unevenly distributed. The ions were then identified using a dual-microchannel plate. Experimental results indicated that most of the homologues supported an increasing pattern of relative ion yields as a function of peptide lenght.

Molecular dynamics model of ultraviolet matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization including ionization processes

Article Abstract:

A molecular dynamics model of ultraviolet matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (UV-MALDI) is developed to help understand the interaction between mechanical and reactive processes in the challenging time range during and shortly after the laser pulse. Methods are developed to handle long-range Coulomb forces and the long mean free path of low-energy electrons.

Time-delayed 2-pulse studies of MALDI matrix ionization mechanisms

Article Abstract:

It has been possible to obtain time-delayed 2-pulse matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization results for 2,5 dihydroxybenzoic acid matrix ions using 30 ps 355 nm excitation. It was established that at least two ion-formation mechanisms are active.
