Quantification of sudden light-induced polarization in bacteriorhodopsin by optical rectification

Article Abstract:

A direct quantitative technique is presented to determine the sudden change in dipole moment, [DELTA][mu], in the retinal chromophore associated with the excited-state population in the membrane protein bacteriorhodopsin(bR) by using a transparent thick AgGa[S.sub.2] crystal as a reference. The empirical outcomes suggest that protein environment can aid to improve the transmembrane component of the dipole moment related with the sudden polarization.

Hydrodynamic behavior of high molar mass linear polyglycidol in dilute aqueous solution

Article Abstract:

The studies about the hydrodynamic behavior of high molar mass polyglycidol in water and dilute aqueous solution and its scaling exponents are reported. The scaling exponent is found to increase with increasing molar mass which confirm the elongated coil-formation in the high molar mass region.

Ligand Rearrangement reaction of Cr(CO)6 in alcohol solutions: Experiment and theory

Article Abstract:

The ligand rearrangement reaction of Cr(CO)6 is studied in a series of alcohol solutions using ultrafast infrared spectroscopy and Brownian dynamics simulations. Excitation with 226 nm light gives Cr(CO)5, which is quickly solvated by a ligand from the bath.
