Quenching and blinking of fluorescence of a single dye molecule bound to gold nanoparticles

Article Abstract:

A fluorescein derivative (SAMSA) bound to gold nanoparticles of different diameters is investigated by using time resolved fluorescence at the single molecule level in a wide dynamic range, from nanosecond to second time scale. The results have revealed a strong coupling between the vibro-electronic configuration of the dye and the plasmonic features of the metal nanoparticles that provide dye radiationless deactivation channels on a wide dynamic range.

Ligand migration in nonsymbiotic hemoglobin AHb1 from Arabidopsis thaliana

Article Abstract:

The CO rebinding kinetics of nonsymbiotic hemoglobin AHb1 from Arabidopsis thaliana encapsulated in silica gels are studied in the presence of glycerol. The CO rebinding kinetics after nanosecond laser flash photolysis has displayed complex ligand migration patterns, which are consistent with the existence of discrete docking sites in which ligands can temporarily be stored before rebinding to the heme at different times.

Two-photon photolysis of 2-nitrobenzaldehyde monitored by fluorescent-labeled nanocapsules

Article Abstract:

A preliminary result of the two multiphoton photolysis of a caged proton compound, 2-nitrobenzaldehyde (omicron-NBA), which leads to the release of protons within fluorescent-labeled polyelectrolyte capsules is reported. The nanocapsules with covalently bound dyes allow improved stability in fluorescence monitoring.
