Raman spectroscopic studies of terthiophenes for molecular electronics

Article Abstract:

The effect of thiol and selenol functionalization on the vibrational spectra and photochemical stability of terthiophene based molecular wires was investigated using surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). It was found that the presence of thiol or selenol end groups inhibits any structural damage during irradiation when the molecules are adsorbed to the Ag surface at low concentration.

Solvent dependence of the spectra and kinetics of excited-state charge transfer in three (alkylamino)benzonitriles

Article Abstract:

A study reports steady-state absorption and emission spectra and emission decay kinetics for three (alkylamino)benzonitriles, together with 4-aminobenzonitirle (ABN), in 24 room-temperature solvents. The study aims to learn how to model the solution-phase reaction potentials of the solutes to understand more fully how charge transfer is controlled by static and dynamic solvent effects.

Characterization of the phase behavior and complexation in the heptanoic acid-heptylamine-water system

Article Abstract:

An investigation on the complexation between heptanoic acid and heptylamine in the presence of small amounts of water using (super 13)C NMR and FT-Raman techniques is presented. Further, the ternary phase diagram for the system heptanoic acid-heptylamine-water at 298.2 K is characterized.
