Reduction and reconstruction of Co(sub 3)O(sub 4) nanocubes upon carbon deposition

Article Abstract:

Synthetic investigation on the formation of carbon nanofibers was described by using a preshaped freestanding metal-oxide catalyst a single-crystal cobalt oxide (Co (sub 3)O(sub 4)) nanocubes, which was reduced and reconstructed into metallic cobalt while reacting with acetylene. Catalyst-assisted chemical vapor deposition (CVD) mechanism was obtained, when the shape, size, and crystal orientation of metal catalyst were provided to CVD process.

One-dimensional arrays of Co3O4 nanoparticles: Synthesis, characterization, and optical and electrochemical properties

Article Abstract:

A study in which one-dimensional arrays of Co3O4 nanoparticles are synthesized by the thermal treatment of the rod like cobalt oxalate precursor at 420 degree Celsius is presented and the optical absorption properties of the Co3O4 particles are investigated. The results indicate that the nanoparticles are semiconducting with direct transitions at 1.52 and 2.01 eV.

Mechanistic investigation on salt-mediated formation of free-standing Co3O4 nanocubes at 95 degree Celsius

Article Abstract:

The transformation process of various cobalt hydroxide and hydroxide nitrate into final free-standing CO3O4 nanocubes of uniform size using various methods is studied. It was observed that with the mediation of NaNO3 salt in the synthesis, formation of perfect CO3O4 nanocubes was due to lowering of O2 solubility and creation of salt-(solvent).
