Role of n-octadecylacetoacetate as an amphiphilic chelating agent in the two-dimensional sol-gel synthesis of ultrathin films of titania and zirconia

Article Abstract:

The amphiphilic chelating agent, n-octadecylacetoacetate (C18AA), plays an important role in improving the stability of metal alkoxide-derived gel films on water surface and the quantitativeness of Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) deposition of gel films onto substrates in the 2D sol-gel process. It has the ability to self-form an air/water monolayer and to complex with the metal center of a metal alkoxide.

Scaling behavior of the elastic modulus in colloidal networks of Fat crystals

Article Abstract:

The scaling behavior of the elastic modulus with solid fat content (SFC) in fats and examination of the occurrence of the two common rheological link regimes is discussed. Crystallization conditions and chemical composition can be manipulated to control final network structure and consequently the macroscopic rheological properties of fats.

Orientational order of the polyene fatty acid membrane probe trans-parinaric acid in Langmuir-Blodgett multilayer films

Article Abstract:

The transition moment of trans-parinaric acid (t-PnA) being almost perpendicular to the plane of the 1,2-dipalmitoyl-3-sn-phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) or arachidic acid (AA) layers at room temperature is described. Results show that orientation density probability function being quite narrow, t-PNA is in highly ordered, gel-like condition.
