STM study of the conformation and reaction of long-chain haloalkanes at Si(111)-7 x 7

Article Abstract:

Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) is used to study the adsorption of 1-fluoro-, 1-chloro-, and 1-bromo-substituted C12 alkanes at the Si(111)-7 x 7 surface, at temperature from 300 to 500 K. It is found that decreased sticking probability and also decreased variety in the structure of the self-assembled corrals, as it proceeds down the series of monohalide dodecanes, C[sub.12]H[sub.25]X, from 1-fluoro- to 1-chloro- to 1-bromododecane.

Activation of p300 histone acetyltransferase by small molecules altering enzyme structure: Probed by surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

The synthesis of trifluoromethyl phenyl benzamides and their effect on histone acetyltransferase (HAT) activity of p300 is reported. It is found that pentadecyl hydrocarbon chain of (N-(4-chloro-3-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-2-ethoxy-6-pentadecyl-benzamide) is required to activate the HAT under certain context.

Raman scattering studies on n-heptane under high pressure

Article Abstract:

High-pressure Raman scattering studies at ambient temperature are performed on n-heptane. A liquid-solid transition around 1.5 GPa from the changes in the Raman spectra are observed.
