STM study of two-dimensional assemblies of tricarboxylic acid derivatives on Au(111)

Article Abstract:

Two-dimensional (2D) assemblies of tricarboxylic acid derivatives, 1,3,5-tris(carboxymethoxy) benzene (TCMB) and 1,3,5-tris(3-carboxypropoxy) benzene (TCPB), are investigated on an Au(111) surface by electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) in HClO4 solution. The results revealed that the adlayer structure TCMB form self-assembled hexagonal network monolayer, while TCPB form self-organized close-packed pattern due to increased length of alkyl moiety in TCPB.

Adlayer structures of calixarenes on Au(111) surface studied with STM

Article Abstract:

In-situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and cyclic voltammetry are used to study conformational-related adlayer structures of four calixarenes, three calix[4]arenes with specific conformations and one calix[6]arene. The results show that the conformation of calixarenes can be immobilized on the Au(111) surface through adsorption.

Gold hollow nanospheres: Tunable surface plasmon resonance controlled by interior-cavity sizes

Article Abstract:

A facile and effective approach to fabricate gold hollow nanospheres with a tunable interior-cavity size is demonstrated by using Co nanoparticles as sacrificial templates. The interior-cavity size can be controlled by changing the stoichiometric ratio of the starting material HAuCl(sub 4) over reducing agents.
