Scaling theory in a model of corrosion and passivation

Article Abstract:

A model for corrosion and passivation of a metallic surface after small damage of its protective layer was studied using scaling arguments and simulation. It was found that the dramatic increase of the corrosion rate is related to the presence of acidic regions in the solution and the autocatalytic enhancement of pH inhomogeneities due to spatially separated anodic and cathodic reactions.

Influence of pH on the micelle-to-vesicle transition in aqueous mixtures of sodium dodecyl benzenesulfonate with histidine

Article Abstract:

Small unilamellar vesicles, which are spontaneously formed in aqueous mixtures of histidine and sodium dodecyl benzenesulfonate, are analyzed. It is observed that the influence of pH brings a gradual transition from micelles to vesicles to bilayers to precipitate.

Comment on "An apparent general solution for the kinetic models of the bacteriorhodopsin photocycles"

Article Abstract:

The comparison of reversible homogeneous models (RHM) and unidirectional parallel models (UPM) for the bacteriorhodopsin photocycle is criticized. It is concluded that Richard Hendler's multicycle UPM model is incorrect for the bacteriorhodopsin photocycle.
