Sensing behaviors of polypyrrole nanotubes prepared in reverse microemulsions: Effects of transducer size and transduction mechanism

Article Abstract:

Polypyrrole (PPy) nanotubes with different diameters were readily fabricated using cylindrical micelle templates in sodium bis(2-thylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT) reverse microemulsions. Raman spectroscopy and ultraviolet (UV)-visible spectroscopy revealed that the PPy nanotubes with smaller diameters had a more extended conjugation length as well as higher oxidation level.

Thermal decomposition of ferrocene as a method for production of single-walled carbon nanotubes without additional carbon sources

Article Abstract:

A new method to grow bulk quantities of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) is developed and reported by a catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process with the possibility of varying the pressure. Results reveal that high abundances of SWCNT with diameters as small as 0.7 nm, which is the limit for stable caps with isolated pentagons, could be obtained.
