Sequence dependence of charge transport properties of DNA

Article Abstract:

The electrical conduction through three short oligomers (26 base pairs) with differing numbers of guanine (G) and cytosine (C) base pairs was measured and the influence of base-pair sequence on the charge transfer in DNA is examined and the current versus voltage curves are obtained by using conducting atomic force microscope. The results have shown that in all cases the DNA has behaved as a wide band-gap semiconductor, with width depending on the number of GC base pairs.

Electron transmission through molecular layers

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the electron transmission through adsorbed thin molecular films to examine the relation of the structure of the film and its transmission properties. The energy and direction of the transmitted signal were determined through photoemission. Results showed that the transmission process is controlled by physical factors that affect the magnitude of the electronic coupling and determine the transmission probability.

Noncovalent interactions between cytosine and SWCNT: Curvature dependence of complexes via [pi]...[pi] stacking and cooperative CH...[pi]/NH...[pi]

Article Abstract:

The investigation results of the interactions of cytosine and the fragment of (5,5) single-walled carbon nanotube reveal that electron correlation is a dominant source of tangential [pi]...[pi] stacking conformations. While electrostatic attractions play more important roles on the stability of the perpendicular complexes through cooperative NH...[pi] and CH...[pi] interactions.
