Charge carrier transport in poly(N-vinylcarbazole): Cds quantum dot hybrid nanocomposite

Article Abstract:

A study conducted shows the mobility of holes in a model nanoparticle-sentisized hybrid organic:inorganic system consisting of poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) doped with quantum dots of cadmium sulfide. It is concluded that the theoretical model based on time- and mean-free-path dependent mobility is proposed to account for the result, which provides a good fit to the experimental data obtained.

Size and structure-dependent photocatalytic activity of jingle-bell shaped silica-coated cadmium sulfide nanoparticles for methanol dehydrogenation

Article Abstract:

Silica-coated cadmium sulfide nanoparticles (SiO2/CdS) having a jingle-bell structure were prepared via size-selective photoetching and were used as photocatalysts for dehydrogenation of methanol. Irradiation of SiO2/CdS suspended in an aqueous solution containing methanol induced the liberation of hydrogen (H2), the amount of which increased linearly with increase in the time of irradiation.

Quantum-dot-functionalized scanning probes for fluorescence-energy-transfer-based microscopy

Article Abstract:

A method to chemically bind CDSe/ZnS nanocrystals to silicon AFM tips for imaging purposes and especially FRET-based microscopy is presented. The nature of the FRET interaction serves to confine the active photonic volume to the tip apex, thus enhancing potential imaging resolution with such probes.
