Solvation and aggregation of polyphenylethynylene based anionic polyelectrolytes in dilute solutions

Article Abstract:

The absorption and fluorescence properties of a polyphenylethynylene based conjugated polyelectrolyte with sulfonate groups solubilizing groups (PP2) have changed with solution conditions due to the equilibrium between unaggregated and aggregated forms of the polymer. It is shown that the addition of cationic surfactant, octadecyltrimethyl ammonium, in aqueous solutions has caused the polymer aggregates to dissociate and has created polymer/surfactant aggregates that have spectral properties like that of the unaggregated polymer.

Conformational behavior of comb-like polyelectrolytes in selective solvent: Computer simulation study

Article Abstract:

The conformational behavior of comb-like polyelectrolytes in selective solvent is studied by using molecular dynamics simulations. The results have shown that comb-like polyelectrolytes in selective solvent have displayed the same type of behavior, but it can be controlled by one additional parameter, the degree of dissociation of the grafts.

Charging and aggregation of positively charged latex particles in the presence of anionic polyelectrolytes

Article Abstract:

Charging behavior and colloidal stability of amidine latex particles are analyzed in the presence of poly(sodium styrene sulfonate) (PSS) and KCl. Polyelectrolyte adsorption has led to the characteristic charge reversal of the colloidal particles at the isoelectric point (IEP).
