Solvation free energies of the Fullerenes C(sub 60) and C(sub 70) in the framework of polarizable continuum model

Article Abstract:

The scaled particle theory and the polarizable continuum model are studied to describe the thermodynamics of solvation of the fullerness C(sub 60) and C(sub 70) in aromatic solvents, hexane, and water. The model was able to reproduce the trends in solution behavior of C(sub 60) along a series of aromatic solvents.

Thermodynamic and kinetic considerations of the formation and the dissolution of nanoparticles of substances having low solubility

Article Abstract:

A theoretical model for the formation and dissolution of nanoparticles in solution is presented. It is shown that the particle formation process consists of a nucleation phase and a phase of Ostwald ripening and the dissolution process of a given amount of particles can be modeled.

Photoemission study of onion like quantum dot quantum well and double quantum well nanocrystals of CdS and HgS

Article Abstract:

Photoelectron spectroscopy with tuneable synchrotron radiation is used to investigate quantum dot quantum well and double quantum well nanocrystals of CdS and HgS. Results show that synchrotron XPS allows layer thickness analysis of the composite nanocrystals within certain limits.
