Spacer-controlled aggregation and surface morphology of a selenacarbocyanine dye on gemini monolayers

Article Abstract:

An investigation is conducted on the adsorption and aggregation of a selenacarbocyanine dye onto Langmuir monolayers of a series of gemini amphiphiles with different methylene spacers. When the monolayers of the gemini amphiphiles were spread on the dye-containing subphase, the dye could be easily adsorbed onto the monolayers through the electrostatic and pi-pi interaction.

Enhanced lubricity in mixed alkanethiol monolayers

Article Abstract:

The frictional properties of two-component mixed alkanethiol monolayers are investigated with frictional force microscopy. The observation indicates that development of gauche kinks in the top portion of the mixed monolayers can enhance lubrication rather than increase friction, due to suppression of other energy dissipation channels.

Luminescence and energy transfer phenomena in Tb3+/Eu3+-mixed polyoxometallolanthanoates K15H3[Tb1.4Eu1.6(H2O)3(SbW9O33)(W5O18)3].25.5H2O and Na7H19[Tb4.3Eu1.7O2(OH)6(H2O)6Al2(Nb6O19)5].47H2O

Article Abstract:

Crystal structures, emission and excitation spectra and emission decay dynamics have been used to analyze the energy dissipation of Tb3+/Eu3+ in cations in both heterolanthanide multinuclear polyoxometalates, K15H3[Tb1.4Eu1.6(H2O)3(SbW9O33)(W5O18)3].25.5H2O and Na7H19[Tb4.3Eu1.7O2(OH)6(H2O)6Al2(Nb6O19)5].47H2O.
