Spectroscopic evidence for pi-pi interaction between poly (diallyl dimethylammonium) chloride and multiwalled carbon nanotubes

Article Abstract:

The interaction between multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and aqueous poly (diallyl dimethylammonium chloride (PDDA) was studied by X-ray photoelectron (XPS) and photoacoustic Fourier transform infrared spectroscopies. The pi-pi interaction of the PDDA and the CNT serves to coat the CNT with positively charged polyelectrolyte, which causes not only CNT-CNT electrostatic repulsion but also CNT hydrophilicity.

Polyurea-functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes: Synthesis, morphology, and Raman spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

An in situ polycondensation approach was applied to functionalize multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) resulting in various linear or hyperbranched polycondensed polymers. Comparative experiments showed that the grafted polymer species and structures have a strong effect on the Raman signals of polymer-fictionalized MWNTs.

Functionalization of multiwalled carbon nanotubes by mild aqueous sonication

Article Abstract:

The sonication of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in deionized water is studied. The results, which were obtained, indicate an improvement in the aqueous dispersal of MWCNTs as well as an increase in their adhesive interaction with Au substrates.
