Stabilization effect of single-walled carbon nanotubes on the functioning of photosynthetic reaction centers

Article Abstract:

An investigation on the interaction between single-walled carbon nanotubes and photosynthetic reaction centers purified from purple bacterium Rhodobacter sphaeroides R-26 is conducted. Light-induced absorption change measurements point to the stabilization of the [P.sup.+]([Q.sub.A][Q.sub.B])- charge pair, which is formed after single saturating light excitation after the attachment to nanotubes.

Physical adsorption strength in open systems

Article Abstract:

The distance dependence of the physisorption strength and effective adsorption capacity is characterized by using a simple analytical procedure. It is concluded that the adsorption energy at short and long distances is not changed and is most affected at intermediate distances.

Precise electronic chi(super 2) spectra of molecules adsorbed at an interface measured by multiplex sum frequency generation

Article Abstract:

A new technique to obtain a second-order nonlinear [chi (super 2)] electronic spectrum of molecules adsorbed at an interface is developed. The technique is based on multiplex sum frequency generation that utilizes femtosecond near-infrared pulses and white light continuum.
