State preparation and excited electronic and vibrational behavior in hemes

Article Abstract:

Three complementary ultrafast techniques, transient absorption, time-resolved resonance Raman Stokes, and time-resolved resonance Raman anti-Stokes spectroscopies were used to study the temporally overlapping, ultrafast electronic and vibrational dynamics of a model five-coordinate, highspin heme in a nominally isotropic solvent environment. The data obtained from the study are found to be largely consistent with a picture in which the experimental observations are dominated by vibrational dynamics associated with an evolving ground-state species.

Use of photoreactive sol-gel interfaces to form robust low-surface-energy fluoropolymer-silica nanocomposite coatings

Article Abstract:

It has been possible to develop a new method for the creation of tightly bound, low-surface-energy coatings on glass and other hydroxylated surfaces. The first stage of this method involves the deposition of a porous vanadia-silica sol-gel thin film on the surface of the substrate.

Spectroscopic characterization of doped poly (benzide) and its nanocomposite with cationic clay

Article Abstract:

The x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy revealed the formation of poly (benzide) between the clay layers. The resonance characterization of doped poly (benzidine) and poly (benzidine)-clay nanocomposites is presented.
