Structural analysis of the anti-malaria active agent chloroquine under physiological conditions

Article Abstract:

The UV resonance Raman spectroscopy is used to analyze the structure, as well as to enhance the molecular vibrations of the anti-malaria active agent chloroquine under several different physiological conditions. The results prove that the different protonation states of chloroquine highly affects and influences the various vibrational modes, molecular geometry and the molecular orbitals, as it also builds up resistances against the drug.

In situ UV resonance Raman micro-spectroscopic localization of the antimalarial quinine in cinchona bark

Article Abstract:

The highly sensitive, selective and gentle localization of the antimalarial quinine in cinchona bark was aimed by applying UV resonance Raman micro-spectroscopy. The vibrations of the quinoline ring and the vinyl group of quinine show resonance enhancement in the UV Raman spectra, which is not achieved in the conventional Raman microscopy.
