Structure features and phase behavior of 1-(12-hydroxy)stearoyl-rac-glycerol monolayers

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to know the effect of the alkyl-chain substitution on ordering and phase behavior of monoglycerol esters by coupling the results of surface pressure-area isotherm measurements, Brewster angle microscopy and grazing incidence X-ray diffraction. Structure features and phase behavior of 1-(12-hydroxy)stearoyl-rac-glycerol monolayers are investigated and compared with those of the nonsubstituted 1-stearoyl-rac-glycerol and 12-hydroxystearic acid monolayers.

The effect of molecular shape on the thermotropic liquid crystal behavior of monolauroylated amino acid glyceride conjugates

Article Abstract:

The molecular shape dependence of the bilayer packing is studied by means of polarized light microscopy (PLM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and small angle x-ray diffraction (SAXS). The studies of PLM and SAXS demonstrated that compounds rac-1-lauroylglycerol and glutamine exhibits a thermotropic smectic phase.

Molecular exchange through the vesicle membrane of siloxane surfactant in water/glycerol mixed solvents

Article Abstract:

The freeze-fracture transmission electron microscopy and pulsed-field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy is studied to find the effect of glycerol on the penneability of the vesicle membranes of a siloxane surfactant, the block copolymer polyethyleneoxide-b-polydimethylsiloxane-polyethyleneoxide.
