Structures formed by the chiral assembly of racemic mixtures of enantiomers: Iodination products of elaidic and oleic acids

Article Abstract:

The structures formed by racemic mixtures of the iodination products of isomers of the related octadecenoic acids, oleic and elaidic acid, are examined. The self assembled monolayer structures of the iodination products of oleyl alcohol, oleic acid, and elaidic acid adsorbed on highly ordered pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) show that through the chiral assembly the racemic mixture can still form chiral domains.

A predictive approach to correlating protein adsorption isotherms on ion-exchange media

Article Abstract:

The equilibrium adsorption of three small basic proteins is measured on cation exchanges and used for developing a predictive approach for correlating adsorption behavior. The isotherm model is used for facilitating the prediction of adsorption isotherms on other ion-exchange media by using isotherms on one adsorbent.

Theoretical approach to the water and tear mechanism in triosephosphate isomerase: A QM/MM study

Article Abstract:

The relationship between the deamidation mechanism and the catalytic activity of triosephosphate isomerase was studied with a QM/MM method. The study focuses on determining whether the ligand-induced deamidation proceeds via an intrasubunit or intersubunit transmission of the conformational change.
