Surface-assisted photoalignment of discotic liquid crystals by nonpolarized light irradiation of photo-cross-linkable polymer thin films

Article Abstract:

Various studies and experiments are conducted to describe and study the surface-assisted photoalignment of discotic liquid crystals (DLCs), which is formed by nonpolarized light irradiation of thin films of photo-cross-linkable polymers. The DLC-aligned films prepared in the described manner possess several intrinsic properties like optical transparency and can be widely used to fabricate novel nanodevices for photonics and electronics applications.

Pulsed-gradient spin-echo (super 1)H and (super 19)F NMR ionic diffusion coefficient, viscosity, and ionic conductivity of non-chloroaluminate room-temperature ionic liquids

Article Abstract:

The PGSE-NMR method is used to independently measure the self-diffusion coefficients of the anions ((super 19)F NMR) and the cations ((super 1)H NMR) in the ionic liquids. The summation of the cationic and the anionic diffusion coefficients for each ionic liquid is well correlated with the inverse of the viscoDPHYSICAL sity.

Time-resolved fluorescence in 3-dimensional ordered columnar discotic materials

Article Abstract:

Absorption fluorescence were explored for liquid-crystalline discotocs, which are characterized by the spontaneous formation of one-dimensional columnar structures in the fluid phase. Also, material based on asymmetrically substituted triphenylenes displaying a novel highly ordered plastic columnar state was demonstrated.
