Temperature dependence of oxygen reduction activity at Nafion-coated bulk Pt and Pt/carbon black catalysts

Article Abstract:

The oxygen reduction (ORR) activity and [H.sub.2][O.sub.2] formation at Nafion-coated film electrodes of bulk-Pt and Pt nanoparticles dispersed on carbon black (Pt/CB) are examined on 0.1 M HCl[O.sub.4] solution by using a channel flow double electrode method. Nafion coating is found to be a major factor for the [H.sub.2][O.sub.2] formation on Pt catalysts modifying the surface property, because [H.sub.2][O.sub.2] production is not detected at the bulk-Pt electrode without Nafion coating.

Surfactant-assisted route to synthesize well-aligned ZnO nanorod arrays on sol-gel-derived ZnO thin films

Article Abstract:

A soft chemical approach to fabricate long and vertically aligned ZnO nanorod arrays with crystallographic orientation over sol-gel-derived ZnO a thin film is reported. The ZnO nanorods have displayed a strong ultraviolet (UV) emission peak and the field emission studies of the well-aligned nanorod arrays have displayed a low turn-on field of 1.7 V/micro m to get an emission current density of 0.1 [mu]A/[cm.sub.2].

Langmuir-Blodgett patterning of phospholipid microstripes: Effect of the second component

Article Abstract:

The striped pattern formation of the mixed monolayers of 1,2-di(2,4-octadecadienoyl)-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DOEPC) and L-alpha-dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) from the liquid expanded (LE) phase onto a mica surface by Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) transfer is systematically described. It is concluded that the width and periodicity of the stripes formed from pure DPPC patterns at the same transfer conditions.
