The changing landscape of physical chemistry at the beginning of the 21st century

Article Abstract:

The centralizing themes of physical chemistry have become dominant at the start of the 21st century, as they were dominant in the 20 century. Physical chemistry is a vibrant central field of science and the push of technology, nanoscience, increasing labor costs, and the need to understand biological complexity on the molecular level drive of the integration of disciplines at present are discussed.

Diradical mechanisms for the cycloaddition chemistry of ethylene on X(100) surfaces (X = C, Si and Ge)

Article Abstract:

The systematic density functional cluster model calculations reveal that the [2+2] cycloadditions of ethylene follow diradical mechanisms on the (100) surfaces of group IV semiconductors (silicon, germanium and diamond). The reaction pathway varies with the bonding nature of the surface dimers which includes their zwitterionicity, weakness of their pi-bond, and readiness to react as a diradical.

Understanding complexity in biophysical chemistry

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the perioxidase-oxidase reaction, the influence of nonuniform fields on membrane transport, neuronal systems and calcium signaling. The study discusses the contributions to some fundamental issues in nonlinear science involving the evolution of chaotic behavior through a torus attractor.
