The pressure- and temperature-induced wetting transitions in the binary water + ethylene glycol monoisobutyl mixture

Article Abstract:

The surface/interfacial tension measurements were performed over the wide range of temperature and pressure of the water {+ iso-[C.sub.4][E.sub.1]} system. It was found that the iso-[C.sub.4][E.sub.1] rich phase exhibits a sequence of wetting transitions at the surface of the aqueous phase by increasing the system temperature while the wetting transition from partial wetting to nonwetting is induced by increasing pressure at a fixed temperature near the lower critical solution temperature of the system.

Comparison/structural evolution and optical properties of ZnO/Zn nanoparticles by laser ablation in liquid media

Article Abstract:

A composition-controlled synthesis of ZnO-Zn composite nanoparticles is presented by laser ablation of a zinc metal target in pure water or in aqueous solution of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). Result reveals that laser ablation of active metal in liquid media is an appropriate method to synthesize a series of metal oxide semiconductor, that is metal composite nanoparticles with controlled composition and size.

Ultrasonically induced Au nanoprisms and their size manipulation based on aging

Article Abstract:

A simple sonochemical approach was developed for the synthesis of single-crystal Au nanoprisms with triangular or hexagonal shape in an ethylene glycol solution. The subsequent aging induced the growth of Au nanoprisms, which attributed to the existence of residual reduced Au atoms and Au clusters in the ethylene glycol solution.
